good point mundcfs... so tehcnically, altho capable, eden hills arent a rescue brigade anyway they just carry rapid intervention (same as seaford??), thus blasting the theory of CFS rescue going just for CFS area... i think someone just knacker bags'd it up in the first response...

Yea pics would be nice... Never actually seen one of these..

How many hours did you spend there mate ?

rescue5271

Did you get many people stop adam??? I know the one here in Naracoorte was busy when I drove past it twice over the weekend...

We did ours on the Thurdsay night. We started around 1900 because thats when the shops are sorta winding down. We stayed until about 2330 and had someone at the stop all the time.  The only thing that hampered us was a Traffic Cop set up a breatho about 200 meteres from our site. He was pulling up everyone and then the drivers were getting peed off so they just wanted to get going again and didn't stop a second time at our site :x. SES and SAAS also helped us so if nothing else it was a good community thing and social gathering for local Emergency Services.
I promise i will get the photos posted

Sounds like a very proactive community - great to see  :-D :-D :-D

Why am I not surprised by the local cops efforts

Regardless, great to see the services being proactive - well done to all of your crew
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to control it.

The smart thing to do would have the driver reviver and breathalyser in the same place, then he cops get their drunks and CFS can give out cake and coffee. win win. :-)

Could this be used as a fund-raising activity (donation cans out), or is this against the rules of running a 'driver reviver' site ?

Yep - that would only happen once - after that the word would spread and people would rarely stop at a driver reviver in fear of police RBT, car inspection etc, etc, etc.

Much better keeping them seperate - by a lot more than 200 meters!

What ahve they got to hide :-P

But seriously, the police pull people over anyway for RBT so they dont have a choice and the ones that would bypass it are the drunks that cause the accidents anyway... :|

The condition of sponsorship is that supplies are free to the public, no products which conflict with the sponsors products are to be served or promoted at Site.  Volunteers can collect donations, sell steak sandwiches etc as long as when a motorists calls at the Site he/she should not feel obliged to donate or purchase.  The main purpose of Driver Reviver is to save lives/prevent accidents, not fund raising.
Driver Reviver volunteers should not operate in opposition to other businesses, it is wrong that small businesses in particular should suffer at the hands of volunteers serving free product.  In many areas local business are supportive but it should not be assumed.

A combination of driver reviver and police checks (weights, defects, road worthiness, loads, registration, rbt etc) was trailed many years ago at the weigh bridge in Pt August on a long weekend! We heard about it on the UHF back down near Pt Wakefield and already cars, trucks and everyone else listening was looking for alternative routes to by pass the delay, hold up and inconvenience.

Driver reviver is proactive and positive community action - rbt is not, it's purely law enforcement!
