Why does Adelaide have one of those little beasts?  Would think Salisbury have better use for it as they always have grass fires.

F.B.R.T

Your not picking on our Tonka's are u!!! :-D (Tonka Tough!)

All I can say is that looks can be deceiving, as these little trucks don't do too bad for what they are.

Ours looks a bit funny though in the close presence of the Scania!!

of course, you are realsising there are plenty of places in and around the adelaide suburbs where a 4wd could be required to acess rubbish/grass/any fires... gonna be a pita if u have to wait half an hour to get one from wherever the shmell...

Clipsal 500 fire crew is voluntary. You need certain training levels from CFS or MFS to be able to do it. Others on this group will have more info.

probie_boy

whatever, ROSA's are good. i've given up my argument. clearly i ain't gonna win this one!

mattb

The ROSA that sits in Adelaide station (2014) is actually setup as a CBR / Hazmat support vehicle. It carries all sorts of Hazmat gear and is basically designed to be able to supplement 206 at a CBR job or run a second job independently. It has a pump mainly for decon use. It's not actually used for firefighting - unlike the one at Largs North that goes to all grassies and house fires on the Le Fevere Peninsula.

Application forms usually go round in december ... Remind me then and ill forward you on a copy..

You have to to a training day, as a first timer.. and be classed.. .I guess as COmpetent..

You also need a CAMS license, with a minimum of Cat. E, grade 4 - Supervised.  This covers Emergency category, specialising in Fire and Rescue, and as you would be a trainee license 4 you need to be supervised by a fully qualified CAMS license holder... (No major biggie.. there are new guys every year).. so yea, get onto CAMS about getting a license  ... www.cams.com.au   .. look for Officials Licensing and download the PDF and send it in..

When the time comes, remind me or one of the others on here and im sure we can get a App. Form going your way..

Robert-Robert34

Thanks for the website strikeathird it seems like i'll need to down load the level 4 application form as well as a trainee officals form as well but i'll be doing this thrusday as i've got to get a new black ink jet cartridge for my printer

You never know i might end up being on the crew for Clipsal 500 next year if all goes to plan  :-D

K.

btw.  The cams licenses forms / application forms are just the cams aspects.  You will still need to do the V8 event officials application forms and then the Fire Crew forms which then go to selection.

But, like I said they dont come out till around december...

Whats a big red santa suit and balaclava and cams licenses usually cost?

rescue5271

Red suite about $250 to $300  you can claim it back on tax I think????

PF_

I dont pay tax  :-P

How can you get it from tax, cant you only get stuff on tax if it is for work, or helping you work better.  I know my mum who is a nurse is doing a Senior first aid course and getting it out of tax, while I have to get mine through CFS.

rescue5271

Have a good tax agent, you can also buy them on EBAY

strikeathird

Fire suit.. bout $280 ish from Revoloution Race Gear.  Tell them its for Fire MArshalling..

Balaclava.. bout $40..

CAMS license.. Free.. just gotta put the forms in..

Robert-Robert34

Well i have printed a officals licence application from the cams website strikeathird but would i need to print off a trainee licence application even though i've had experience at other events such as the Coonawarra Drags and International Pedal Prix in Murray Bridge

Cause i have been apart of the fire & rescue response crew a few times at Coonawarra Drags and a radio communications officer at the International Pedal Prix

Im not sure that the experience at non cams racing events counts :?
Kalangadoo Brigade

strikeathird

DOnt worry about the CAMS trainee license form, they will send that to you in a CAMS license book when you send in all your paperwork..

As much as it is good practical experience.. No, the drags nor pedal prix will count for anything as it is not a CAMS endorsed event.

Robert-Robert34

Being that i have no cams motor sport officiating experince i might as well just put down the fire & rescue training that i have done in the last 4 years whihc will include that Emergency Response Warden Certificate course which i did last year  :-D
Kalangadoo Brigade

strikeathird

For a cams license it doesnt matter mate... You are will be getting a trainee license so they will " Train you " in what you need to know...

EG.. If u apply and get selected for clipsal.. you go to a training day the month before.. which you get signed off as doing.. that goes on your license.. then.. the 4 day motor sport even counts as your training... You can then apply for a standard E4 grading..

Writing about fire warden training is a waste of ink mate.. I dont think it asks for previous experience.. if it does just write No Motor sport experience... However blah years as a CFS firefighter.. or sumthing..

Its not a huge thing mate... dont stress too much !

probie_boy

so so so much paperwork :-o

strikeathird

EVERYTHING with cams requires alot of paperwork.. Alot of imdemnities (sp) , alot of policies etc etc...  And remember.. Motorsport is dangerous... Officials have been killed before working at meets across the country.. Its not something to take on lightly...

You can be a fire figter for 40 years... But at your first motor sport meet and first incident you will learn something new.. gaurentee it !

Good luck to any one else applying for CAMS licenses and wanting to work at various race meets around the country... With responsibility and a little care, it can be the best times of your life too !!
