since I started this topic, the only info I got was the SES stuff from bajdas, which is good by the way.  It appears no CFS training exists.  I hear the STC guys are working on a radio operator course (people say they've been doing that for a long time now).

A handy way of getting new operators or f/fighters trained in radio or giving sitreps is when you do any little exercise or training, make it as real as possible, ie give arrival messages, BAs in use, what your doing to the car if your doing RCR etc, gives them good practice at getting sitreps direct and to the point and lets radio operators becometrained in whats coming, ie arrival sitreps they know what info is required in case the IC forgets something.

Sorry to dig up tihs thread again but I only just read it and agree totaly. We train on GRN use, yes, and there are some great ideas on how to train radio use, but there is no documentation (that I'm aware of) that trains on radio protocol. Surely I'm wrong and CFS protocol is documented somewhere? I'd be very keen to see it.

I've been developing my own, listing prowords etc, but there are so many differences in the way people communicate over radios that it is hard to pick the good, the bad and.....well it's easy to pick the ugly. That's the transmission that is invariably followed by "Er, say again?"
