New intake of MFS Recruits
« on: August 19, 2005, 08:16:36 AM »
I would just like to take a moment to publicly congratulate all the people who have been accepted into the SAMFS this year.

Good work, Guys.

My Understanding is that SAMFS may take enough people for 2 and maybe 3 intakes from this years applicants. Which I have been told may mean no more recruiting until 2007.

You're right I believe they've taken 54 recruit for 3 intakes of 18. My brother got in and has got a spot at Pt Pirie! He starts on the 5th of September.

Good luck to anyone else who got in!

As a full timer I think they've got a good roster of a 24 hour shift then 3 days off! Not bad I think, as long as you're not too busy on the shift!

pt piries a strange one, as james said, they do a 24hr shift, then get the next 3 days off... they are one of the quieter stations, even more so than pt augusta, but remain "fulltime", becaus eof the Pazminco Co. Smelters (at least i think that is what they are called)...

i think the way they get away with having the crews on such klong shifts is due to the retainees, available 24/7..

by running the station like this, they can get away with having only about 16(possibly less) full timers in pirie.

Retained is okay, but full time would suck.

It's actually really good, shows people are reading and looking deeper into the discussion that's past.
It's also because the search function will pull up old threads, which new people may want to discuss further..... :-D
