Friday the 20th saw lighting hit the ground in several places around the Mallee. The most memorable was Ngarkat where our Brigade (uncharacteristically for Ngarkat) saw some action on Sunday/
Friday there were fires everywhere. Cooke Plains and us were the only two appliances on the ground when the Coomandook fire came out of the scrub, just about next resource along were the bombers.
Looked spectacular as it casually strolled across the Dukes Hwy, clearing large, large patches of bare sand.
Really, really trying conditions - went for a rest in the cab eventually where the kestral read 49.7, ahh, much cooler
