My pager decoder was still working... :-)  but I have only just had a chance to read them, after coming back from the Coonalpyn fire...

Sorry, this is a retype of the message, as we have two separate computers, which currently aren't talking to each each other....(gotta finish mapping my drives!)

And another....there seems to still be quite a problem with operator assisted pager messages through link, in the comprehension of our messages:

For those that want to do their own paging there is a couple of options seeing as Airsource Pro is no longer available due to Silverlake Comms going out of business.

 http://www.notepage.net/silverlake-customers.htm

or MTEL Telecommunications Software which is what CFA are using at present.

Link operators are hopeless

so long as you know the paging adress ID then it is easy enough to page from the link site from anywhere in the world

except the SOPs (10.1/10.2) say only Airsource or the Link operator are approved methods.  Email and via the Link website are specifically not allowed.  Of course no one takes any notice of this which is one reason why the SOP needs to be updated.

PS. Silverlake disappeared years ago but Airsource is still able to be used, contact your group comms officer if your station doesn't have it.

PPS. I wouldn't say Link are hopeless, they have a big job with all the funny brigade/group names and weirdo placenames the CFS deals with.  It just shows what a good job the SOC operators do!
