Nearest and most appropriate resource for gods sake. For any incident in our area, we *WILL* arrvie at least 20 minutes before the SES. Thats not some made up figure, thats the filtered driving time to the two closest SES units. Why is it so hard for people to understand this?

I do not know what is programmed into MFS computer system & I do not know which Brigade your from, but on face value of your posting, you would be the Primary Response for your area. Thus you will get the job because you are the quicker responder.

Its an appalling misuse of resources though when we AND the SES get paged to a tree down, or some other minor thing. We've had trees come down on the road next to the station, and still the SES are paged. Then again, people don't always follow the RCR book either...

it MAY be a coincedince, or dispatcher f'ed up. hmm however, maybe a disagreement in the car that resulted in the accident... a million possibilities

but doesn't the weapons addition to the page infer that somehow weapons have been involved in the need for the ambulance?

not necessarily.. when ambo comms add something like WEAPONS, ELECTRICAL, ANIMALS, FIREARMS  or maybe TRAFFIC, its an addition to warn the crews of possible hazards...

So when SAAS pass the info onto SOCC why don't fire crews get the same heads up??

@ firetruck - possibly... im not sure.

@ mengcfs - im pretty sure all possible information that is given to SOCC from wherever the call originates is passed to CFS crews.

I'm sure SOCC passes all info they have to crews - no doubt.  The point is SAAS or other agencies should be passing all the info they have to SOCC.  Fire crews are just as vulnerable as other emergency services.
