It is but is a very strange response page (and with an invalid mobile number - too many digits).

medevac

its from the SES state headquarters unit... there SCC is open today.

nothing wrong with the page that i can see (other than the mobile number obviously, which isnt even relevanty for a MVA really...) and maybe they could have added URGMSG. but it containcs all relevant info...

Heres another pager message sent out to Region 5 GO's and DGO's about the wind

1909357 12:26:05 16-08-06 CFSR5: GO's & DGO's: CURRENT FDI KEITH GFDI 6, NCTE FFDI 24, MTG FFDI 15. IF WINDS INCREASE TO PREDICTED SPEEDS FDI's COULD REACH 50-60

they might as well make it official that the fire season starts a few months earlier than expected because of this wind

Only in the South East!

They go a week or three without rain and they are worried - welcome to South Australia and welcome to the rest of the states dramas :-)
Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the ability to control it.

Yeah this was interesting we were at a scrubbie today just around the corner from where this supposedly happened but was an MFA. But then on the Victor road on the way home we found a car had run off an embankment and through some trees but the engine was cold and the people were gone. Could have been the same one???

the FDI reached 60 on Hindmarsh Island with 50 knots of wind.

Not a pager message but the weather conditions @ 13:30 hrs at parafield airport. Also going scrub fire at Glencoe in the SE. Kalangadoo is in action, awaiting report for robert on this one!!
Don't look back. Something might be gaining on you.

medevac

FDIs did climb to interesting levels today... some would have warranted fire bans, including 115 at Pt Augusta...

lots of grassies today, lots of burnoffs out of control...

robert may actually have a valid point for once... if the weather did remain like this for an extended period... but then again... isnt rain forecast for the coming week?

Yes it was from SES SCC. Had a newish volunteer operator on the airsource computer. Job was also telephoned through by CommsOut operator to ensure it was received properly.

When we noticed the URGMSG issue he was corrected. SES SCC pager message are individually typed by an operator until LHQ opens, then we fax the tasking docket.

Roughly 35 jobs dispatched statewide this afternoon.

Next front to hit at 2400 but that should contain only rain.

SES SCC closed at 1715 tonight.

mack

pissing down up here at the moment andrew... lol

i take it priority jobs (MVAs, rescues, etc) get paged through though... not just faxed?

Mike

I know the mobile number was wrong.... but keep in mind we shouldn't be posting contact details from pager messages  :-)

Cheers

We do both. The complete details from the call taker is available for the crew at LHQ on a computer printed form via the fax, as well as the complete Unit know about the basic job details from the pager.
