Lol well outside his realm, heard over the radio he was trying to get lofty almighty team in before the 2nd alarm arrived.... Probably get Norton Summit, Summertown, Oakbank/Balhannah & Cudlee Creek in first....

Still seems to be a lot of attempts to self respond or self involve up in them thar hills. Also noticed on the same job another brigade who shall remain nameless (but is a town named after the current season) who kept giving sitreps even though they had not been invited to play. There is maintaining situational awareness, and being too involved when your not involved.
"is that negative as in yes, or negative as in no" - actual radio transmission from the field.......

Zippy

An undeveloped idea to follow, but it could work!

All "groups" (1 brigade at least) included in a 3 Alarm or higher incident, could be given "Advisory", "Alert/Active Standby", "Contained" and "Stop" message for information purposes only. This would make information flow pretty awesome, and would mean brigades would not have to self-monitor incidents.

E.g

IC calls a 3rd alarm, as part of that, SACAD could look at which brigades have gone, and then send a message to all the relevant group info addresses:

MFS: INFO ONLY: Escalating incident at Lenswood. Await further notifications.

MFS: CFSRES: Active Standby for Lenswood incident. Await further notifications.

MFS: INFO ONLY: Lenswood incident contained. Cancel Active Standby.

MFS: STOP MSG: Stop recieved for Lenswood Incident.

Nothing wrong with advising your crews of a fire you may realistically be called to - allows crews to prepare - eg ensure a crew is around & ready if required.

They weren't on standby at their station, or coming up on the radio bugging the OIC that they had a crew if needed - just giving their own members a heads up.

The practice of giving a heads up to brigades who may well be called to incidents is something that is encouraged within the Group.

There are three types of people in the world.  Those that watch things happen, those who make things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Yea i saw this also, and i guess with the vast info that can be obtained and listened to via the internet and scanners u cant really stop it... BUT if i was in that brigade and my pager was constantly going off with useless info like that id be annoyed...On the other hand i can see it being of use on TFB days when incidents are "more likely" to escalate and involvment is more likely.

Personal opinion only!!

jaff

Its starting to look like there might be some inter group response protocols, that we may not be aware of.......but maybe I'm wrong?

It would appears that Strath was attached to the wrong job...a short time later, they were attached to the correct job - I think it was a prang at Strath...
