Can confirm (as a BA Instructor) that a rep from Lion will be at all initial courses. The sizing up is done during a lunch break.

I know we all like a good laugh, but some of the pager messages of late are very RUDE and CRUDE and may be some people need to be careful with what the put on the pagers but if we look at where most of them are coming it would be that paid staff are the one's doing all the RUDE and CRUDE pager's.........ONE RULE FOR SOME AND ONE RULE FOR OTHERS

I agree Bill, just cause some people are bored at work they shouldnt be using the GRN paging system for their fun. People can say we shouldnt be reading them , but I have heard of volunteers being told off for sending social type messages.

Thought MFS carry basic HAZMAT equipment on their pumpers,  or rescue pumpers ( 439 ??).

But i'm probably wrong!!!

^^ Yea thats a bit rough...

Regarding the Hazmat. ..  All I could think of is that the MFS call taker had further information that what the page stated...  How ever, as it was a known Chlorine (or.. chemical) related incident... WHy wasn't it at LEAST a hazmat reduced response?

I know MFS439 may carry hazmat equip, but i believe that is CFS area, would have thought cfs hazmat would go as well.. EG -what happens if the MFS appliance gets stopped enroute to an accident / has an accident / vehicle failure.. what ever... There would be no hazmat equip on the way then...

But... It wasnt turned out as a Hazmat, hence im guessing why cfs hazmat didnt go...

Maybe MFS comms need to be asked why they didnt respond the job as a hazmat... Knowing there were chemicals involved... DId they have further info ??

Any one here the job?

The GRN paging system is in palce for one reason and thats for all emergecny services to send both emergency response messages & other messages but definately not rude & crude messages

If those kind of messages are to be sent the company or companies doing this should have their own paging network rather than abuse the SAGRN paging network

Mate you don't have to convince me... I think hazmat should have gone from the outset...  (So yes, I think the RESPONSE from MFS should have been for a hazmat...)

But...  In a perfect world i spose...   :?

there's a form the local CFS EMA brigade can fill in and send in reporting that the response/dispatch procedures were not followed (if indeed they weren't).  EMA brigades in my group report it when it happens.

The problem is that a lot of people that send pager messages don't realise that we can all see them.
I guess that most of us until last year would have thought the same

The above page smells of SPAM email.

I believe (but not confirmed) that some agencies have email or computerised high alert messages (eg IT helpdesk) automatically duplicated on the GRN pagers.

So this might be accidental as a new system is tested or a computer generated page.

Either way I would think someone is working on ensuring it does not happen again !!!
