I know quite a few people up that way and in my experience you can safely assume you are responding the whole lot from the local pub - maybe the Roxby pub was closer to the fire than Andamooka station  :-D

I understand that some of the retained MFS stations are struggling to gain / retain enough members to be able to provide a full service - and Burra is one of those (Burra MFS & CFS are both paged for all calls now, to try & ensure enough crews are responded)

Not sure what you mean there Rob? The testing involved ensures that successful applicants are capable of fulfilling the requirements. Both physically and numeracy/literacy wise to complete all the training and reporting requirements. Some of the retained stations in the smaller towns have difficulty finding people who are available during the daytime, much like the CFS I guess.

We all struggle to crew, no one is any better than the other really, none of us can stand up and say that we will always crew!!! Even the ever reliable Mt Gambier I am sure has its moments!!

Our truck is only 13 years old this year so will be a few more years until we see another one.

We are meant to be getting a new station by the end of this financial year though!  Wont fully believe it until the truck is parked in it.

I was told there wouldnt be any new trucks in our group until next year cos they wont fit in any of the current stations.

The new 34`s are no higher than the CFA built ones. Maybe slightly longer though.

There in is where the problem lies for alot of stations.  They were built around the existing design with around a metre clearence around the truck but now they are longer so it would be touch and go.
