They're having a bit of a run at the moment they had a couple small domestics and one small commercial fire last month, those BA seats in their new pumper are getting a workout.

03:31:16 03-02-07 FROM LINC BASE: EXERCISE ONLY: Green Patch Nth Shields Respond Scrub Fire at The Pines, Cnr Flinders Hwy/Western Approach Road 3/02/07 03:33:12

04:07:31 03-02-07 FROM LINC BASE: CFSRES: GREENPATCH PLEASE RESPOND TO STATION FOR EXERCISE 3/02/07 04:06:56

I'm not surprised they didn't respond to an exercise at 3:30am in the morning

Exercise Daybreak

They have done them  before....all night exercises.  although its at an odd hour of the day its probaly the best time to get everyone together.

i remember the strath group doing one about 15 year ago when my old man was with Milang.  Apparently a lot of fun.

SES have done this previously either within a Unit, multi-Unit or region basis. Normally a multi-task incident, or a major single location with multiple casualties (eg USAR or Land Search).

Incident controllers and others get a work out controlling crew rotations, logistics (fuel, water, food, vehicles, shelter, transport, etc). Individuals learn more about how they cope with stress & fatigue.

Have seen it also run as a desktop exercise where extra issues of a rescue vehicle is lost be an explosion in the middle of the incident or a crew member is confirmed injured. Really makes you think.

And I thought it was illegal for anyone to take action from a scanner ? Three minutes is a very good response time ?

It was also illegal until very recently to record something off the television with your video recorder and play it back, sometimes it is not practicable to enforce every law.

Most of the stuff the news crews get is from the scanner and pager programs.

I had a phone call from one of the girls at the Advertiser when I called in a flooding job at the shopping center I work in. She seemed a little surprised when I started asking her how legal it was for her to be using my info from pager messages.

I think it's fairly clear from that example that Ch7 (and so probably the others too) have their own paging decoders (which I have long suspected) rather than using the paging website.  3 mins is not enough time for the site to update, them to ring MFS, and MFS to send out the second page.  Plus of course the media have been doing that long before the paging website was started.
