MR T

It will be interesting to see if they re-open applications mid 19 or just pull from the keep fit pool now .........

Lukeyv

Congrats to the people that have progressed to the PAT1!
I am one of the many that got a stay fit letter, however I did not receive an invite to the PAT1. It would be interesting to know the number of extras that were called upon.

Here's hoping more PAT1 emails are coming!

sj000

I have heard they are planning on interviewing more candidates early next year, so seems these additional PAT1s could be creating a larger interview pool

Pitboss

Has anyone else received an email regarding the PAT1 invitations?

Pac

I wonder if the people who have been invited to the PAT1 now are going to leapfrog the people still waiting for an interview who have already completed the PAT 1.

TE

My Pat1 is 11th at 9.30.. did anyone else get other times?

Of the applicants that have already been interviewed has anyone actually received an unsuccessful email?
Or were you just told like me,further information would be provided soon?
Thanks

Hi all

Does anyone know the rules surrounding glasses? I.e. I think the medical states that firefighters need 6/6 Vision, but what about those people who wear glasses? I'm currently going through some eye tests and would hate to miss out on a spot due to requiring glasses!

Thanks,

James

Left foot snap

You are required to have 6/6 vision unassisted. Therefore, glasses/contact lenses are not suitable for firefighting. Your safest bet would be to have laser vision correction.

James8441

Ah right, thanks Left Foot Snap.

Hopefully my eye test this afternoon is 6/6, otherwise it's laser eye surgery time!

sj000

Left Foot Snap are you able to provide any insight into where they are heading with these PAT1s?

Left foot snap

There were obviously a larger number of unsuccessful applicants in the interview, PAT2 and Medicals than expected. More applicants are probably required to be interviewed to fill a second squad for 2019, hence the invites for PAT 1.

CFS_fire32

Not surprised that quite a few didn't pass the interview - got to expect that when you base the invitation purely on profile/psychometric testing.

Any idea how many extra were invited to PAT1?

MR T

I've heard another 100ish have been invited to run the PAT 1 . I guess they will be added to the remaining pool and start interviews in the new year for the second squad......

sj000

And approximately 60 interviewed already with approximately 60 still waiting on an interview invitation, so gives them a large pool to select from with an additional say 80 passing PAT 1, interesting to see how many are interviewed for the second course

Pac

Do you think they might run two squads side by side?

canine

Maybe they just want a larger pool so they can be more selective. The current drill squad had a couple not make it to the end so they may want to widen the gene pool a bit. Unless there is a rush of retirements there would be no need to run two squads at once. I don't think they can anyway now doing 24 per squad

Left foot snap

I think you'll find the profiling test pool may have been widened too far for the most recent squads (600-700 deep) and hence a couple of square pegs trying to fit into a round hole. If anything, the process will be reopened again next year to get more applicants to add to the pool of those who have already applied. The aim would be to get more people through to the interview stage who fit into the parameters of the psych test for suitability for the job, rather than widen the parameters and take less suitable people.

Don't read into how many taken through to recent PAT1. They have to release people to run the test so it's easier to run a larger group and have extra in the bank for future squads rather than not run enough to top up a squad.

What's the ruling for next year if u didn't get past the cognitive testing? Can u re apply for the next intake or do u have to sit it out for 12 months?

Zoomer

I wonder how many failed the interview, PAT 2 etc.? It would interesting to see

sj000

Also wondering if those who interviewed but didn't receive a PAT2 invite failed the interview or they are still in the running, wait and see what their 'further information' is

Pac

I'd say that if the people who have had an interview and haven't received a fail letter, then they are still in the running. They would be placed in order from the interview  they had and if they are above the people to be interviewed next then they would go to the PAT2.

sj000

Good luck to everyone running the PAT1 tomorrow
Hopefully they are able to give some information when you're there about when interviews might be

ssickers

Good luck to everyone running the PAT 1 today.
