Has anyone been deemed unsuccessful after the interview yet? Be interesting to know how many haven't progressed from that stage vs how many waiting for a PAT2

Hey Zoomer,

I reckon what they will do is interview the remaining pool and mix them in with the guys already interviewed and pull the second and possibly third squad from that. Just my opinion.......

I've heard they will reopen applications in about June for people that didn't apply this time and they will be mixed in with current ranking.

Yeah Ive also heard this . It will be interesting to see how many apply. The fact that they need so many recruits over the coming years, looks like they want a big pool to pick from.

I've also heard that will be happening in July, wouldn't they still need a squad to start before then?
I'm still holding hope that either the extra info that the guys waiting for a PAT2 is that they are on a waiting list, or they will interview the remaining pool

Anyone going to the open day today? Apparently they have a recruitment info  stand. I'm hoping to get some information on where the "Stay Fit" people are sitting in regards to progressing.

I'm about to head out to the open day as well, so I'll also have a chat and try to gauge where people stand from the various pools.

I just left the open day, I spoke to a few guys and even managed to introduce myself to the acting Chief Officer. Not a whole lot to report out of it, they did confirm that they only pulled enough through to make one squad at the moment starting early next year so there would be plenty more people being called through. They said if you have received a keep fit letter you were essentially ranked high enough to still be in the running but not high enough to be called upon now. The person at the recruitment desk said they were looking at atleast 3 squads next year. Interestingly she wasn't quite so confident that there would be another call for applicants mid year like previously suggested.

@sj000 I specifically asked about the pool of applicant's who did the beeptest but weren't called upon for an interview and the guy i asked wasn't aware that anyone was in that situation, having said that, it wasn't the person manning the recruit desk so not sure what their position is.
Would be interested to see if FireLuke or anyone else got anything else out of it.

There will need there to be a significant number of retirements and promotions if you think there will be 3 squads of 24 next year. They will only ever plan one squad in advance as its dependent on global numbers of firefighters, funding and resources. Don't take 300 over the next 3 years as a certainty.

If anyone follows the Facebook page, "Fire Recruitment Australia" I saw old mate there is saying they will open applications again halfway through 2019... but he probably knows about as much as we do right now

I haven't personally had any dealings with Fire Recruitment Australia but I have heard from a couple of serving fire-fighters that the guy is a bit of a clown, so I wouldn't give to much credence to anything he says.

He is a boof head. Trying to make some cash out of applicants desperation. He is never accurate with when applications will open. He probably saw a few comment on here about mid year.

I received a Pat1 email today also after initially getting the keep fit email. Mine is for the 11th of December

Maybe they've realised with 3 not graduating from latest squad that a heavy reliance on the psych to select people isn't the best option.... So are going to interview more this time
