I spoke to HR yesterday. There are 400 in the "keep fit" pool and have NOT been ranked in any order. The 70 doing an interview were judged to be the most suited for the role based on the psych test. If they need more they will call on the next most suited ones in the pool so keep an eye on your emails but don't put your life on hold.

The psych test was less than half the length of the old test,

400 in a pool is ridiculous!!!

TonyDanza I got a keep fit letter and I did answer yes to some of those questions, I simply answered the truth to the test.

TonyDanza

That's good to know Gazz, I feel a bit better about that, then again maybe I shouldn't...not making the top few hundred I must have profiled about the same as Ivan Milat :)

I personally think the process and dependence on profiling is outright ridiculous, especially given how easy the aptitude was they have basically narrowed a pool of 1400 odd applicants down to 70 from those who can run the beep test and from this one test.

But you know the recruitment process is what it is, everyone has to jump through the same hoops and well done to those invited to interview. Good luck to you all.

fire8029

The retained staff had interviews in Feb and got letters last week.

Mosquito79

Has anyone heard of how the interviews are going? I had a couple of mates go through last week and they walked out having no idea how they went! Seems like a pretty intimidating process!!

td

Does anyone know how many drill squads they are considering to take this time around including from the waiting pool? It would seem as though with an apparent 400 in the remaining pool (as per a previous post) it might be some time before they recruit again after this. Any thoughts or info?

MR T

Hey guys
Any one heard anything about how interviews went ?

Mosquito79

I believe that letters went out yesterday. People either received a "come and complete the PAT 2" for the first scheduled recruit course letter or a "your ranked in a pool for future recruit courses" letter. Not sure if anyone received a "you haven't progressed from this stage" letter..

It appears they are only undertaking the PAT 2 for applicants in the first and only guaranteed drill squad from this recruitment process which includes the retained fire fighters. Perhaps they are not doing the two courses 6 weeks apart as people suspected? Has anyone heard any different?

I wouldn't think so, they have never done it like that in the past..I think the personality profiling is only "valid"for 12 months. I may be wrong
But they could change the way they recruit to try and save some money, have more of an Order of merit type system like they have in Melbourne

BT085

Hi Ferret, there has to be some sort of strategy or reason behind 400 letters in the stay fit pool pre-interview? How does this order of merit system in melb work?

Like 2011, I made it to the interview and was not competitive enough to be called up for first squad, (stay fit letter) although from the 70 odd interviewed I think probably only 10 or so would have been called up for PAT2 if 8 retained had already locked in those spots.. Hoping they will do a second or third squad from the 70 interviewed - gives me a better chance I guess..

Mosquito79

Maybe give HR a call and see if they can shed any light on the situation...

Anyone with a keep fit letter got an interview yet?

What's the timeline for the 2nd squad Ferret? How many did they take into the  recent PAT 2 testing??

K99

A few years ago I was successful in passing all tests with the MFS. I was measured up for uniforms as well. Turns out I didnt end up making the first drill squad but was told to wait for drill squad number 2. The second drill squad never happened.

The next year recruitment started again. I was told to re apply. I said Im on the books for 12 months, why re apply. I was told that the 12 months begins from when recruitment is officially advertised so the 12 months was up. Time to start it all over again. I never did.
Im just letting you know about the 12 month rule...cheers and good luck

As per the web site the first drill squad starts June 9 so that means that pass out for that squad will be on Sep 11. Second squad starts Sep 14. They have yet to decide on a third squad.

They would probably like to think so. My drill squad started and finished around the same time. Had pass out on the 17th of Dec then first shift on the 20th

Hi guys, has anyone heard anything more at the moment? Has PAT 2 testing finished? I know the Retained process was ahead of everyone, has any of them been offered spots yet?

finished this week. Drill squad starts june 9. With rumour that the second begins straight after first one finishes.First will be a retained/fulltime combo

Gfoss

Out of the 70 that were interviewed, how many after the 2 drill squads would be cab ranked for a possible 3rd? I heard a few failed  pat 2 and some may not have interviewed that well.

I've heard that there are applicants that have been cab ranked from the interview process that will undertake the PAT 2 etc if there is a third drill squad next year. Not sure if anyone else can confirm this.. Last year the rumours were that there would likely be two drill squads with the possibly a third. But it's anyone's guess.
