In the UK there are private ambulance firms doing 999 emergency contract work for NHS ambulance services already. Fire services will follow Im sure.

Well come to think of it, some RAAF Bases have had a privatised contracted ARFF service for some years now,I think Transfield provide the service at present, seems to work there.
