Hey Matt,

Thanks For The Scanner, I Was Looking At Setting One Up, However Never Got Around To It.

Currently Trying To Stream From It Now, However I Don't Believe That It Is Working.

Sorry My Mistake, The ASF File Was Attempting To Open In WinAmp.

I Seem To Be Getting Alot Of Static Though.

You need the latest Windows Media Player... (Or at least, if you have the latest, it works)

Latest media Player: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/default.aspx

Glad to hear that the information provided on the website http://users.chariot.net.au/~mattb/scan/scanner.htm has been usefull.

At this stage the website will be were all my info goes, I may expand the agencies covered a little bit if there is a large call for people wanting info on specific services. I think a book is a bit out of the question though, I just don't have the time at the moment.

Remember that if you have some specific questions or frequencies that you are after that we have the SA-Scan yahoo group that has nearly 350 people on it, normally someone there will answer any questions you have quite quickly - you can find it at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/SA-Scan/

The stream was down yesterday whilst it was moved to a dedicated PC, hopefully now the feed will be up most of the time (can't guarantee it though).

It would be great to see a few more streams in different areas of the state, we currently have the Barossa to Kangaroo Island covered, just need a few others now. If you need a hand setting one up let me know.

Thanks Matt,

I Will Give It A Go When I Get Home From Work.

What Region Is The Scanner In?  Also What Tower Is It Set To As Its Primary (Lofty Tower)?

The scanner has been offline a bit this week, I moved it over to a dedicated PC on Monday and now it is crashing sometime during the day when I am at work.

I will investigate the problem over the weekend and hopefully get it back 24/7.

It's currently working fine at the moment with 8 people connected.

It's good to hear the scanner back online again Matt.. while listening to it i noticed S.L.S.A CH 1 come up on the screen is this SAPOL not using their usual Digital radios or is it another service

If it is SAPOL would it be possible that SAPOL South East is using Analogue mode instead of Digital mode as well  :-)

It is Surf Life Saving Australia, they use two main channels that are both patched together and have a third that is occasionally used by the rescue boats and helicopter.

As far as SAPOL go, every single talkgroup they use is digitally encrypted. The new UBCD396T trunking scanner which is an absolutely beautiful scanner won't work on SAPOL either, there is really no way you can hear them now.

Robert, I am unaware if the AVCG crews in the Port Macdonnell and Robe areas use the GRN. There is a VHF marine repeater at Robe however that I'm sure you will hear them on, try 161.725mhz. Have a look at http://users.chariot.net.au/~mattb/scan/marine.htm for more info.

I Was Listening On The Week End & Heard S.L.S.A Talking To The New Chopper, They Were Chasing A Shark Out To Sea.

Yes It Would Be Good If We Could Get SAPOL On The Scanner, However From What I Have Heard Your Need A Really Expensive Scanner.

The Scanner Appears To Be Up More Regulaur Now Did You Fix The Issue With The Box Crashing?

Yes CFS_firey even when SAPOL were on VHF long before GRN was even thought of it was very much illegal for bikie gangs, drink drivers, dope plant growers and home invaders to monitor SAPOL transmissions

However SAPOL didn't have a problem emergency service volunteers like myself monitoring their VHF transmissions because there were numerous occasions during the fire season/summer where Police officers were first on scene of a fire and radioed for CFS response

I can refer back to the Claywells fire just outside of Millicent during the 1997-1998 fire season i think it was..... anyway on that day i was monitoring SAPOL transmissions and heard that they were chasing after the fire to try and block off a road but couldn't keep up with it because the fire was moving too fast

On hearing about this fire i told my parents even before the pager sounded

It was always my understanding that it was not illegal to use a scanner...... only to act on the information gained from it. No matter what service.......

This Is Where I Would Expect Them To Be: http://users.chariot.net.au/~mattb/scan/cfsfreq.htm However We Just Recently Changed VHF Channels & It Hasn't Been Updated, So At This Stage I Am Not Sure.

The frequencies are the same, so if you know the new channels, you can use mattb's list to get the frequencies. There is a double sided A4 sheet floating around with all the new channel allocations... I'll have a look for it... What specific groups are you after?
