I think at this point we can all just hope and pray that there is no loss of life in the coming days. Sure there will be total destruction and the force of Yasi is still unknown but to all our fellow Emergency service workers in QLD good luck and Hang on  :-)

SASES has been asked to arrange a possible depolyment to QLD,POST Cyclone Yasi.

SES wise they want USAR CAT2 people, so only those that have done the higher level of training.

Think CFS wise it would be clean up crews, we aren't really qualified for much else. Maybe some staff for IMT ?

and you need current SES Medical certificate (provided by your personal GP)

Talking to a QFRS member today, all states have been asked to look at sending in crews once its safe to get into area's. i just spoke to family at Airley beach wind 150kms and power is out in some area's they will be hit by 2300hrs and rain of up to 500mm...

On page 4 of the 'Sunday Mail'.....it should be 50 SA SES volunteers & 3 staff flying this morning to Cairns.

Close, but we do not have that many paid staff. Haa Haa   :lol:

Next deployment leaves on Wednesday.

The recent E-News states "...Their mission was to provide support to and respite for Queensland SES crews by responding to tasks including emergency taskings 24 hours a day if necessary, resecuring and or improving initial emergency repairs to premises damaged during the cyclone and providing general recovery support to the community...:
