What's the difference between Respond Alarm and Respond Private Alarm? Is an Alarm a system that notifies MFS directly and a Private Alarm notifies a third party like security?

Also, what's an ASE device?

Correct, Respond Alarm is a MFS monitored system( each alarm has its own unique code so keys and pre plans can be obtained), Respond Private alarm is monitored by a private security company eg. chubb, A&G  and they call the MFS when they receive the alert on their system.
ASE device is Alarm Signalling Equipment is the latest device used to send the signal from the alarm panel to MFS monitoring system. Has a main line and a back up line to reduce problems with telstra faults

Except when the exchange fails and the "backup" cellular coverage comes from the same exchange as happened to us recently in the middle of the night! The public didn't realise but for a few hours they couldn't even ring 000....bit scary!
