Would anybody be able to explain to me why MedSTAR is not seen on the online pagers. You can always here radio contact between them and comms but when there are incidents requiring the chopper, MedSTAR are not paged (only CFS or SES to prepare landing ground). And also, SOT are not paged for general messages and net calls test pages.  :?

self taskers........

And....they all have radios surgically attached to their hips

Skippy

Yeah but even DR2 is paged and he chooses his incidents.

Are you sure the page is not a duplicate for the Adelaide Uni Road Crash Research unit.....

I don't think I have seen an actual page to the various doctors that attend.....

Pip
There are three types of people in the world.  Those that watch things happen, those who make things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

Well for DR2 for example, it is normally a Adelaide Uni Road Crash research. But I am lost on why incidents that require the MedSTAR chopper are not paged but they use the SAGRN system. I know the idea of a telephone is the most plausible explanation though, but it would make sense for them to be paged. A

what pip said

SAMFS- it's not about what you think should happen.....  You'll get to understand government departments in time.......

Alan (Big Al)

i remember when they had the medstar behind the scenes thing on one of the news networks and the jobs for them were phoned into their batcave and they responded from that

If you listen to the Retrieval Teams talkgroup CH12 TGID 42512 you will hear the comms between Medstar Base and Comms.

SOT is also SO74 day shift

There is also a Medstar 201

Medstar are paged for netcalls, often for taskings and some times given SITREPs via pager if they are in the air between Adelaide and the location they should be at.

They do not come up on the pager feeds that are public probably because the owner of the feed has not added the pager codes to their filter or because they feel there is not a large public interest in having those message on the net. I think its a fair call as often someone that is being retrieved is at their most vulnerable and really does not need to be public knowledge.

Darius

Indeed.  As you say they do often get paged but haven't seen any specific job details via pager that I can recall, an example page is something like "Cat B - Heli + blood - GRN when mobile".

Every so often, details are paged - including patient name, sometimes details of their illness / injury, obs etc......although I haven't seen it on the pager sites available to the public....

But why isn't SOT paged for incidents, net call and other info that relate to them only, not medSTAR?

misterteddy

*sigh*

cos they aren't

cos they are a law unto themselves

cos that's the way it's always been

Alan (Big Al)

why does it even matter if they do or do not get paged etc for jobs....

now you're being annoying and starting to sound like a tool.....

if you have any idea about medical politics at all - you'll understand that ENORMOUS ego's precludes doctors from doing anything that is standard practice - but rather re-invent the wheel because it compensates/ makes them feel better about now being the same size fish but in a much larger pond.

You tend to make the assumption that the Pages that you see on the paging scanner sites are ALL paging traffic that is sent out. That is not the case.

In my line of work, we can be turned out in numerous ways, some the public are aware of, others not. R/T, Station Bells, T/P, MDT, Phone, Pager, Crash turnout system...

Things happen that you don't need to be aware of.

Get over it.
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...
