I've seen lately a vehicle around that says on it Emergency Support Unit. Does anyone know who they are and the call sign? Also what types of emergencies do they attend?  :?

It's the complex patient unit aka the bariatric truck.

Call sign is Bariatric 75/195 - the truck is affectionately known as "Barry".  Two crew on during the day, with a single responder on at night.  The night guy drives the vehicle to the scene and does all the technical stuff, - with regular crews doing the grunt work.

Can't remember the exact figures, but workload has gone from 5 jobs a year to at least 10 per week in about ten years.

They also run your standard day-to-day ambulance. Easy to see, has big lettering EMERGENCY SUPPORT UNIT, don't know the specific call sign of that particular ambo. But SAAS wants to introduce more Support vehicles because there has been a rapid incline in the amount of patients that are "unable" to be carried in ambulances.

The one I've seen at fulham is the same model as an emergency ambulance (With bold writing Emergency Support Unit). I've seen the BR too and you must have a truck license to drive it (for obvious reasons!). Interesting read though  :wink :-)
