CFS COMPS.
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:43:05 PM »
Well the curtain has fallen on the CFS comps there will be no more state comps and this has come down from the top as of last week. Some brigades will be upset over this and others would not care but once again CFS has lost some of its history. I wounder if it was placed into the too hard basket or did OHSW have to much to say....

Perhaps an update of the events could have helped save the comps?

Bummer.
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

Trouble is it all comes down to money. Something we're all going to have to get used to having less of, but provide the same service if not better.
Treat everyone as if they are an idiot, until they prove you otherwise.

i'm not sure $$ are the reason.....lets face it, the comps were really way passed their useby date. Old hat, outdated equipment, and dads army looking, personally I'm kinda glad we put them to bed.

If enough people cared, then a modern and crisp looking set of professional competitions could be run for not much money....trouble is....do enough care?

Hah ya rekon? When i was a cadet and did the comps, there was always a filtered parade.

No huge loss in my opinion, as they were no longer relevant and staff/state never bothered to change anythig to maintain vollunteer interest.

I think the comps in the last few years, when they ran, cost a relatively sizable amount of money, for a small handful of brigades......and it seemed more cadet teams than anything else....!

Any money from comps would be better spent on running Regional Field Days...many more people can get involved - and no extra special training required to participate.....

I don't think many brigades had the time to do it, and it would have showed up the exceptional skills we show these days
