You would need to look at the relevant Act, for the legal definition of an ambulance.

AS for vehicle similar to police cars - there are a number of security companies driving around with blue & white checkered cars (although not commodores).

Also, some time ago, there was a towing vehicle driving around with the dayglow stripes, just like the old police markings, with the words "Polite" towing written across it...just like the old police markings.....and it was like that for some time, so I figure there wasn't much that could be done to make either company change their vehicle markings, to make them look less like the emergency vehicles....

On the public transport bus yesterday, a lady was getting off with a 'EMS Medi Taxi' shirt on. The writing was on the rear.

So maybe the ambulance word has being removed.

Either way, they have been going for 20 years which is a long time for volunteering.

The relevant Act, which I won't get into, does not allow the use or carriage of emergency beacons or sirens on non-emergency ambulances.  The fact that SAAS has the only Emergency license means any other operators with beacons are acting illegally and outside their scope of practice.  PMS had to remove all emergency decals and/or lettering, and any other reference to emergency to have a licensed vehicle on the street.  There are no beacons or sirens on our vehicles.  I wonder who these green operators are?

EMS Taxi; Emergency Medical Support Taxi, interesting.  I wonder how they will go with if it is found out they have Emergency on their clothing.

If the poloshirt was a navy blue with star of life it is EMT ambulance mob. they do run around with the red and blues and some members are cowboys and should be closed down in my opinion.

Once again some people are playing the name and red and blue cards. No matter how much government tries to remove the words from these companies names, uniforms, and other stuff it wont happen. Having seen countless people in town who were in town for a conference from the mines wearing their rescue tv's the majority have EMERGENCY, RESCUE, FIRE, AMBULANCE written on them. And many of these people were walking down rundle mall and through the main shops.

and for the vehicles... there are about twenty vehicles sighted in adelaide and known to police for having dual light flashers fitted to their cars illegally and many vehicles that have chevronning on them that is also very confusing... but as many of these vehicles are sign written and retrofitted with lights after they are sold they are not picked up by transport department boys and girls at regency park.

You can whinge, you can whine, you can have a good old fashion sit in, but nothing will change. and polite towing change cause they wanted to look diff to the cops, as many people were abusing them when it can to reposess their cars and just hating them cause they looked like cop tow trucks.

Btw new ambo's for PTS from interstate look good, wouldn't mind one sitting next to our pumper

2468, If you are refering to Paramedical Ambulances, I think they would look good net to your pumpers, you would have seen them next to the big NSW pumpers on 'Rescue Special Ops' in the last 2 episodes.
