DAMAGE to fibre optic cables which left several State Government offices without communication on Budget Day is being investigated by police.
The underground cable was cut during the early hours yesterday.
Crime Scene Investigators tested the cables for fingerprints after the damage was discovered at about 6am.
Contractors were called to repair the severed cables but hundreds of government staff were left without email, internet and telephone services for the day.
Most services were restored by the time offices opened yesterday.
