Looks like a goer at Clarendon...Looks like pretty ugly country on google earth..any one with more info??

Sounds like its under control now, bombers have done a few drops now. Bombers standing down.
Treat everyone as if they are an idiot, until they prove you otherwise.

only 3ha in the end i believe. but yeah terrible country, really steep inaccessable terrain and the bombers would've likely had to contend with high tension lines, due to the substation there. lucky they knocked it on the head early

Was a little of a over kill but hey you have to be safe dont you and i can tell you Mawson DGO one wont live this one down :roll:

Overkill.. - You ever been in that area Bill ?.. Some/most of the states largest Rural risks are in that area, and/or border on it..

thats pretty much dead exact terrain Mt Bold had in 06/07...and that went to multiple strike teams ey?

I have been in that area it was a little funny listening to the scanner,My comment comes after the  DGO who I work with said what he said....

Not really....
South of Mt Bold is easy country compared with the scubby gully this one was lit in.
Lucky the wind was down, and the bombers dropped early.  Gut feel is someone has read
about the transmission line issues in Gippsland & thought they'd have a crack at
replicating them here.   Not happy.  :x

Fortunately wind was in our favour, and 3 drops from the bombers and quick work by the first arrival crews stopped it dead in its tracks.

It was maybe 500 SQM, more trucks than you can poke a stick at, such a traffic jam that we had to drive the long way home, couldn't get through....and for some reason we couldn't get the radios to work... :-P
