20 kms apart mac, but I would be more worried about the time delay to get crews to it, considering they had lost it 10 minutes after the call, and almost half an hour to ask for additional resources including the bombers where the pilots had to be recalled, and then the Air Attack Supervisor screaming when are the bombers going to get airborne leaves a lot of questions.

Then a mad scramble to send every aircraft in Mt Lofty Ranges to the incident and get stop called enroute.See yesterdays paging gives you the gist of it. :-o

End result 5 hectares.

Was yesterdays predicted FDI's above 20???  im puzzled they werent on active standby....

Itll be good if Region 1 could do a similar daily forecast report that Region 5 does during the fire season.  helpful information of weather or not Bombers are on active standby or not would be handy to those running jobs who dont check FDI's etc...

It might pre-empt incident controllers when bombers are 45 minutes away, to use strike teams instead.

Bagyassfirey

they were probably stood down at 1700 and on their way home

Zippy

ahhh my bad, thats understandable.

Bagyassfirey

i mite be wrong zip but does anyone else think there could be a problem down that way with soe one that enjoys the sound of a match striking???

Possibly the one at Kuitpo the other weekend when the onka gorge one was going was suspected to be deliberate.

Quite clearly mac, if their aren't established causes, it looks like their is an arsonist getting about.. Thats a bit of a NB..
