The Assistant

strikeathird

maybe sometimes you should think before you speak!

I WRITE what I think and if you have a problem with that so be it!

Go and yell in your pillow or hug a tree but don't bring down the quality of threads on SAFF

and ruin it for everybody else.

People come out of CFB course thinking they are superman, does that mean their ego is their kryptonite.  (Just saw the movie :-P )

Sam

Hi All,

I have a feeling that Brett went to region 5 as training or something? In the volunteer i think.

I have just done compartment, and it is a great course gives you more knowledge, but you need to practice the skills and knowledge to be semi-proficient. Do it weekly and you might be.....

All the instructors were great guys, great knowledge and people skills so don't worry about it..

I have a feeling that they are working on a follow on course for compartment which is tactical venting.

wanting to bring the topic of CFB/Suppress Urban Fire back into discussion, just completed the course,  found it is pretty much ESSENTIAL for all BA operators to know the techniques...

Recommending it to all.

Any stories of those who have done it and have used the training in incidents?

The education behind CFB and knowing what to look for is great. But in reality being able to use the techniques correctly at a job is not something that comes along that often.

The other issue I've noticed it people not understanding the techniques properly, and causing issues. People have been passed as competent on the CFBT course, but there is no way I would ever want to be in a building with them.

All in all, its a valuable tool, but not the be all and end all of firefighting, no matter how much some people want it to be.
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

I consider it impressive if you can put out a 3 room fire, within 15mins of the page, with 300L of water, and have Fire Cause pat your back...true story recently by one of the instructors.   And this didnt happen in Region 1 or 2.

Correct there numbers,  its just a tool for the toolbox.
