Surviving a Recession

Advice during a recession using real facts:

If you had purchased $1,000 of Delta Air Lines stock one year ago,
     you would have $49 left.

With Fannie Mae, you would have $2.50 left of the original $1,000.

With AIG, you would have less than $15 left.

But, if you had purchased $1,000 worth of beer one year ago, drunk
all of the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling
REFUND, you would have $214 cash.

Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink
heavily and recycle.  Perfectly logical, but not nec advisable.

Drink up!

You should have said $2000 worth of beer

Zippy, for the right investment opportunity we might be willing to change.

I think the numbers are wrong for Sth Oz though.
Off the top of my head...
Light beer @ $30/slab = 33 x 24 x 10c = $79.20 plus $10 change = $89.20
Paley's @ $40/slab = 25 x 24 x 10c = $51.00

Still a better investment than those others listed.  Forget shares.  Buy beer !!  :-P

Don't you just feel sorry for those poor folks in the rest of Australia
who don't have access to this wonderful investment scheme?

One is merely a misspelling of the other.

...w[h]ere do the numbers come from?

When pi and 2145174.356 love each other **VERY** much... (;) Not quite there...)

The 33/25 is the assumed number of cartons you can purchase for $1000.

Sheeesh !!! The complexities of high finance...
Where's Paul Keating when you need him ?!!

$1,000 investment float.
Lights - 33 slabs of 24 cans/stubbies @ $30ea = $990 = $10 change
Time your raid on the market right & you could buy cheaper again.

33 slabs of 24 cans/stubbies = 792 cans/stubbies (give or take a few)
792 x 10c at the recycling depot = $79.20

add the $10 change (assuming you haven't already spent it on smoko)
gives you $89.20

clear as mud ?
Now take those figures to the bank & impress the socks off the manager
with your financial acumen.

cheers

No argument there !!

returns of the scheme. Actual returns may vary with market fluctuation. For

It makes you think though, those homeless guys have the right idea and must be making a fortune  now! I know of ppl who could make $1000-$2000 a week collecting cans and bottles now its doubled, they are going to living it large!

Pretty soon JIMS will pick up on that, look out for the new JIMS CONTAINER COLLECTORS franchises being advertised soon. Appplicants must have their own bicyle, stick with hook on the end, teeth not essential but preffered, :-D like these.
