so is it just the brigades that do a huge amount of incidents a year that deserve a new appliance. isnt it right to theink that every brigade should have the right to the best appliance to protect their community. i know we are only a couple of years away from ours being 20 years old and we never get in to double figures for incidents. but ill be puttin my hand up for a new truck.

Of course, but what about a few brigades that are going around? Hundreds of incidents a year, all but one of their trucks are older than 15 years, a few are far older than 20 years . You can't suggest that your brigade that in 30 years will not have the same work load as other brigades have in a single year, deserves a new appliance. You must be mad.

As you say, the "Best" appliance to protect their community. I'm pretty sure you could easily do with a 10 year old retread.

It seems 5-7 years for all pumper/24P/34P appliances to be moved along...so even the Type 2's will eventually move along down the chain.

Getting moved along a chain is great, the problem is that the chain needs to start in the correct postion...

As far as the "Type 2" pumper, don't we in the CFS just call them a pumper? If we are going to adopt another services naming scheme then it looks like the 34P's just became Type 1's!

May be if briagde's filled i paperwork that says they did training and fire calls and attended a community event that they may get a new appliance...

As far as im aware (could be wrong though) i heard that some of the 2005 model 34's, ie the 1st one with the hose reel above the deck were going to be rotated this year. Meaning the likes of Happy Valley etc would receive a newie and theirs would be shuffled somewhere else. Unless since i heard this things have changed (not unsual in the CFS  :-D). Zippy, i though there were more 34's than that being built, although the 34P figure sounds right.

The "type 2" or medium pumper is more of a proper fire truck than our "P's" bolted to the back of a tray top truck, so i would expect them to stay in their brigades for probably the full 20 years if thats possible.

Even if they chose to cycle em.....where would they send em?  Those that have pumpers are probably the only ones that deserve them, unless they are going to take the angle of the CFA and give every brigade that has a house, a pumper.

You will notice the 08/09 are ready to start production, all the new cab/chassis are being shipped in as we speak, just look at Isuzu's yard.

The 34's will be Moores again, the 34P's are Varley NSW again and they should be able to just carry on building.

Wonder what they are doing with the emission system exhaust on the new Euro 4 model Isuzu`s ? The owners manual states not to park the vehicles near grass etc when doing a manual burn of the particulate matter. Seeing you cannot control when the normal cycle particulate matter burn occurs you would be pretty embarassed to be starting fires in a paddock with your brand new fire appliance.

The Euro 4 have horizontally mounted exhaust systems that get very hot when the burn off the particulate matter. The answer may be to mount the exhaust system vertically at the rear of the appliance like some of the other P`s, with some kind of guard around it.

Well thats the way of the future, so hopefully manafacturers are thinking of this, imagine all those trucks having to come off the run because they are starting fires !!  :lol:

It is as there are only 7 of them in service..Lucky 7 :-P

Mintaro have received their new 34, and there are another six which have now been registered due for delivery to brigades at some stage.

make sure that when you get a new appliance(34 or 34p) that you check every thing that is on it and that also includes the first aid kits... I had a look in the first aid kit on the new penola 34 and guess what items where out of date and the kit did not have its full contents as per the tender. So make sure you check it all as you never know how long some of these items have been sitting on the shelf....
