Holy smoke! You're part of an emergency service that operates 24/7!

Who would have thought that important info may come through at any hour :O

EDIT: 27 hours in a day? Who'da thunk it!
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

Zippy

yeah 24/7 for RESPONSE messages ;)

I don't know about you, I don't mind the heads up. Yes, even at 1am.

Heavy Rescue

Given that the first Severe Wx Warning was issued at around 1630 yesterday, with updates every 3 hours, and the fact that the one that was paged out was just another routine 'update' (the same as all the ones prior), and also the fact that the warning actually stated that the severe winds wouldn't reach the settled areas until around 0700 at the earliest (for the West Coast), and also the fact that messages on the Regional Maildrop need either the DSC or RDO's permission I think we can safely say that someone screwed up.

Thanks B Shift.

Im with numbers..

& I dont think they would send that without being told to so by someone in CFS Heirachy..?

CFS_Firey

I think its more likely it went to the wrong paging group, and was only meant for duty officers.

Its good for the people concerned to be given the heads up if servere enough, but even i got the filtered page and if ya thought i was annoyed should have seen the wife.... not happy Jan.

I happily get quite a few of them, along with more than my fair share of other info pages. But thanks anyhow ;)

Zippy/ Pixie might surprise you but wild weather costs a lot more than wild fire does every year.
And as CFS looks after most of the physical land mass of the state in all things emergency - ergo you need to know about storms in winter!
Therefore all you do is what I used to do - have a read, doesn't apply, roll over & go back to sleep!
Not quite sure what the problem is - I used to get them by pager & SMS on the duty phone (one after the other)& Newbies then ringing up asking what they should do!(and my replies had to be nice didn't want to upset the little darlings)
So one little pager message occasionally is no big deal - after all you guys want to be the guru's of all things emergency so get used to it :-D
Finally as some very clever people have already said"it was a stuff up", no big deal.
cheers
Ken
just another retard!

Not clever, just the facts.
Nothing more nothing less. Build a bridge people.

I can easily get away with being constantly woken up for info drops and brigades responses,.....A lot of you others DEFINATELY need the beauty sleep  :-D
