i like my sleep thanks jaff, you should already know that, helps me get over thinking about work, but yeah for a response message, screw sleep.

jaff

A memo was circulated today from xxxx xxx explaining that Regions 1,2,3 and 4 received a info page at 1;30ish was a mistake by the operator who will undergo pager retraining (drop, bend, pineapple, insert and turn).  :-o
Oh well, Shite happens!

if you dont wanna get pager messages through the night....turn the filtered off!

Pixie

Are people on this forum retarded or something?

None of the people who have complained care if they get a response message throughout the night...

It is when one of Adelaide Fire People stuff up and send out a weather warning, which had been issued many hours before, gets sent out as a regional mail drop at 1:30 in the morning.

For the record, it wasn't the 01:30 mail drop that annoyed me, it was the one at 07:43 that got under my skin.

To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

...and some of the people complaining, I think are wanting to take-over volunteer emergency services into one entity....the storm alert pagers would be one of the consequences of the take-over because the agencies are trying to prevent damage rather than respond after the damage happens...and yes some Unit's/Regions's warn campers, local fairs, etc that a storm is coming.

My personal opinion only.

We might as well start broadcasting storm warnings on the CB radio if we want to warn campers and other recreational users of severe weather  :-P

Not quite Robert that is what ABC radio & the weather web site is for!
Just like fire weather warnings, the mail drop message warns crews just as Andrew said. And if there were a big function on in your area (like the local show being setup on the previous day), you could (I'm not saying you would) warn the organisers or be prepared for the "calamity" that may follow!
And Pixie - read what was said no one mentioned response pages, as has been said previously, get used to the mail drops they are part of the overall package. Just this time was a little mistake!
Anyway I think I've said enough on this - in all honestly it's a storm in a teacup!
By the way if you get a chance have a look at the RFS tv ad, it's that good I almost joined up! Then I had a reality check :-D
cheers

Sheesh.. I won't mention how I read that at a quick glance!..

I feel sorry for the o/call staff in summer who get 100 pages a day!
