HOLY FILTERED!! So do ya stil have fight fire from the front??? looks really impressive.. any idea of value????

bittenyakka

It looks a bit long.

I reckon althouight it is a bit slow Piccadilly 14 is roughtly the design to build if they want small trucks with the full 1000L capacity.

Zippy

Mitsubishi Canter Cab's seems to achieve the "14" build better,  except the rollover/burnover protection barrier is very high above the cab, creating a height hazard within particular stations and firegrounds with limited height access.

They only have 850L Tank's...if they forego the crew deck  OR Half of it (Replicating a MFS ROSA)...i can see it becoming a full 1000L quick attack vehicle, that doesnt have serious Weight problems :D

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha.

Ahem.

To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

Darius

is it really 6WD or a lazy axle?

Zippy

I really think its a lazy axle for carrying the weight ;)...real 6x6 would be too expensive? :P

If its not a 6wd , then why is its designation a 16??? or was this a typo or a assumption on the photographers behalf, who invented liquid soap and why???
What are the answers to all these questions, stay tuned and were sure to find out! :-D

I'm still waiting for a 6000L, 9wd vehicle...

Shiner

It is a six-wheel drive.

I did hear a rumour that although the design worked well on paper, in practice it is a right swine to drive or rather to turn! It just wants to do straight lines....... I was told that was why it was sitting at Moores for a couple of months on and off while they performed other tests etc.......

I hardly think bolting a telephone box to a truck constitutes a good design ;)

hahaha yeah but ignore the layout and the carsick inducing seats and look at the size and you will see what i mean. Considering the last batch of 14s were as high as a 24.

Ok, ignoring everything but the fact that it is 4wd and has a water tank, I believe it is a very good design :)

how about you come and have a look one day and we can bag the crap out of it together.

CFA upper beaconsfield had two of these units after ASH WED 1983 and where in service up till a few years ago.Not a bad looking unit  and one that will do well up in that Parkland near Pinnaroo..I hope the brigade as not lost any of their other apliances to make way for this new unit??

Pipster

Pinnaroo 16 is an addition to the brigade, not a replacement...

:-D :-D :-D That's right bittenyakka, didn't the BBC use your 14 for a prop when they made Dr Who? Now if your going to start comparing 14's you need to start with an even playing field, and we're part of the lucky minority that still drive the "Mighty Mazda". The rest can only dream of getting a "true" 14 (that realy does carry a 1000lt) into some of the areas we can.

Darius

apparently the canter 14's can take 1000L with some simple mods, then all it needs is a turbo.

chook

Correction 029 SES won't be getting ANY trucks! Not this year anyway. However there are some 4x4 Isuzu's around within the system not exactly practical for RCR (manual handling issues).
The FleetSA supplied vehicles will be dual cab utes (waste of time except for carrying chainsaws).
All 6x6 vehicles of this type will tend to understeer in a corner (Landrover 6x6's were notorious).
Anyway hopefully the Pinnaroo 16 will do what they want (how did they justify an extra vehicle?) & I would have thought a proper rescue appliance would be a higher priority after seeing their 24 setup.
029 get used to the idea of not getting specialist vehicles suitable for task. The reasons are as follows 1) CFS has far more clout than SES 2) that is not the direction SES is heading  :-(
Anyway keep the faith (someone has to  )
cheers
Ken
just another retard!
