Cleaning of Appliances

What are people's recomendations/tricks for cleaning appliances?  What do you use?
Have heard a bit about CT18 truck wash. Is this any good?
How often do you polish the bodywork? What do you use?
What do you use to blacken the tyres?
What do find best for the windows?  (pet hate of mine!!! Dirty windows when driving GGGRRRR!!!!)


I have seen Morphetvale and Mt Barkers recently and both are a credit to their brigades. I'm sure there plenty of other good ones around.

-Only for trucks

-Every now and then. Polish.

-Burn them

-Glass

Sorry to poke scheiße, but its not rocket science. How do you wash your car? Apply the same logic to a truck, but remember... its bigger.

In the world of water restrictions you don't
However the gear the car wash places use is as good as any, CT18 is ok just needs a fair bit of water to remove. And blacken tires? Are you serious? It a truck or a street machine?
And yes foam (AFFF) works well we used to use it in another service to clean our fuel tankers.
But as was said its not rocket science

Don't use FOAM as it will start the rust process,the local car wash is a great place to go when you don't have any water at your station..... and you save water at the same time...as for windows I find white vinegar in a spray bottle is good...

I put my car through the local servo's car wash once a year whether it
needs it or not.  But the trucks won't fit ...

More seriously, for truck cleaning, I normally use firefighters...

Thanks for the compliment COBB, we find the best way to keep our appliances clean is by doing it regularly.

Every time a vehicle comes back to the station after it has been out in the rain or driven on wet roads it is chamoised, if the truck is actually dirty we may just happen to divert some water towards the truck when we are cleaning our hoses. We also spend a bit of time at the local car wash giving them a decent clean after any decent rural job or deployment.

The tyres also get blacked every couple of months and the rims painted at least once a year.

Do not use Foam it has health and safety risks!!!!!!! Not to mention if corrodes big time!
