What have you lost/left behind at the scene?
« on: May 27, 2008, 08:22:21 AM »
Is this a first???
I went out on my first job in the fire truck (I am usually doing communications or going out in a command vehicle to a fire ground) to a RCR and came back without my gloves or my coat.
You can imagine the comments I got out there (at least it wasn't my pants as well?!)
Still haven't owned up to the Fat Controller yet (he was away running a course that day) but not sure I am looking forward to it tomorrow night
What have you lost, left behind or had to bin after a job? (including major/minor pieces of equipment)

That would be the one Robert, I gathered you were there but I kinda had my hands full and didn't get to work out which one you were (I'm guessing you were attached to a lollypop at the southern end of the road????)And yes it was Danny who got stuck into me for losing clothing - I just think he was glad I still had my pants

So were they left in another brigades truck, which means they should be owning up to the lost property if your name is in it...or left at the scene & stolen.

Or maybe it went for a walk because it was lonely...   send a search team   :-D

I have left pens, gloves, bum bags, etc at either the incident scene or other vehicles, when I was completing storm damage tasking many years ago....very embarrassing when they are presented back to you at next training in front of everyone.

I think the Unit in those days even created a 'lost property' box after weekend exercises...

They actually went in the rubbish as they got a bit gory. It was more to do with the first time I actually get in a truck and I come back without stuff.
I wish they had gone for a walk, it would have been more pleasant - the scenery is quite okay around there - Actually the thought of leaving something behind and having it presented at the next meeting will make me be extra careful with everything - It's bad enough when they turn up at my place with my pager going are you missing something?

That makes me feel better that you lost your helmets on the way to an incident rather than at or after. I don't feel so daft anymore!

So what did you do when you got to the incident? Sit in the truck cause you had no helmet?
Treat everyone as if they are an idiot, until they prove you otherwise.

Why would you do that?  According to our captain its perfectly ok to run around without correct PPE on.

I went to a call where half our crew had thongs and just a turn out coat

Have lost a 'Waterwatch' water bottle somewhere out in a paddock near the border. Left it on the back of the fire king. D'oh.

What a way to start the day, Thanks Jaff, you have no idea of the images running around in my head now :-D
It was enough with the imagination working overtime about numbers website but to follow it up with half dressed firies running around in thongs (and no of course I was not imagining the feet variety)
Boy, this lack of sleep is really starting to effect my brain!
Oh, well at least you can say I'm easily ammused and I'm know grinning to start my day

You may dare, but I'll not be part of the public name and shame scandal  :-)

PS. This is very off topic. Getting back on topic, I want to hear more about the loss of dignity and innocence at a call.
