CABA ancillary equipment.

What Ancillary equipment does your brigades CABA sets have? And what do you think should be carried/removed?

So far I have seen a good mix (CFS Standardisation :roll: ) of everything.

Lighting:
Pelican Super Sabrelite 2000
Wolf Atex Torches
Mini Maglights
Another type of 90^o torch, perhaps a streamlight?

DSU:
Firefly K
SuperPASS II

Then the typical personal line on the CABA and the Main Guideline slung of the cylinder.

I would love to see the addition of a buddy breathing capable air line, but without buying new sets I don't think is going to happen. I am still unsure of the realistic need for the personal line/main guideline as I have never seen or heard of these being used in anything other than at Ship fires in Hi-EX foam. I would love to see more of the 90^o torches.

We have bA members issued with helmet torches but i am unsure of the brand.

Yeah i can't really see the guidelines being used that much. Has anyone ever used them for a wide area search like they teach on OCABA?

And i would love to see more 90 degree toruces instead of those maglites that seem to bew standard on many sets.

The helmet torches would probably be the UK4AA ones. Although I have seen some heavy looking pelican ones around.

Heard a rumour MFS were or were considering dropping guidelines from their BA course.

We have standard cfs BA equipment.  Would like to sub the mini mags for LED torches as the blue light seems to penetrate the smoke better.  Also some 90 degree torchs would be great.

I doubt it. The time it takes to get ventilation working, or have the correct approach to gas cooling, you may as well just be in searching with the old BA shuffle.

Dont even think many searches would be done with guidelines (depending of the size of structure), if any primary searches are done its just with HP lines in most instances.

I'm not too keen on the Personal Line. We don't use them at all in NSW. An easier and more versatile solution would be to issue a 3-5M piece of rope to each BA op. That way you can do more than just search with it.
