Yep, works for me too, the current situation is ridiculous! And yep you are right it is employment for the retained guys, so care needs to be taken when discussing SAMFS rural stations.
And yep SAFECOM & the 3 services needs to step back, take a non-emotional look at the current state of play across the whole state. Then develop a 5-10 year plan & then implement it!
When is this power play stuff going to stop!
And the formula is quiet simple - based on population size (current/ projected), surrounding resources & risk. High population areas, mainly structural risk = SAMFS. Lower population areas, mainly wildfire = SACFS.
And isn't the ESL we pay partiallly based on what services cover the town?
