A REVIEW OF THE FIRE AND EMERGENCY ACT 2005 IS CURRENTLY BEING HELD, SHOULD WE AS VOLLIES HAVE A SAY?

Zippy

wonder why the Act is changing so often...would be good to stick with something for at least a decade hehe...

Its part of the Act that its reviewed after two years.
You do have a say thru your association same as us, members of the public can have a say too check out the Safecom web site.
A review is a good idea, if you have ever read the act, its got a lot of grey areas. Check out the SES section and compare it with SAMFS & SACFS, you will see what I mean. Also some parts of the Act would sit better as a Regulation under the Act, which means when its modified it does not have to go to Parliament everytime. cheers

Understand there was a state wide meeting Yesterday at R1 HQ attended by the group officers from across the state and others, yes I think Volunteers should have a say in it and it needs to be looked at from all members not just those at the top.
