SAAS changed colours because the CEO is a POM

*rolls eyes* - So it had nothing to do with the research & Vehicle development group?

Lets go right out there and paint them Teal.  :-D :-D :-D

Would that then give the trucks more "POWER"  :-D

As long as you dont drive them on grand final day.  :-D

Can you deny it makes the truck more visible?

Also, it's http://ozfire.org not ozfire.com
Actual thread is http://www.ozfire.org/viewtopic.php?t=6254

That link won't help people who are non-registered members.

It'll help more than the wrong URL will though... ;)

I swear that there is a group of people somewhere... Perhaps the "SA Emergency Services Fluro Colour Co-Ordination Group" That meets and discusses how to make SA Emergency Vehicles look like trash.

SAESFCCG: "Hahaha Lets tell them the fluro pink on PPE makes them stand out and gives a 85% increase in visibility"
SAMFS: "Ah why thank you, now there is scientific reason for us to look retarded on the fireground!"
To think they employed me as a drooling retard...

LOL !  That much red & yellow will give the conspiracy theorists unlimited
goss-fodder & confusion about just who is going to take over the CFS.

Will it be MFS or DEH !!
Keeps everyone happy.    ;-)

Its not just in our state Victoria are experimenting with some weird schemes, also in QLD as well. So that department you talk about must be federal :-D

So did anyone on the CFS equipment/vehicle committee have any input into this or did the group do it of its own back?? Hey it sure got my attention and those of others I sent the photos too but would look better on a red truck. Why did the group go this way ?? I know there is a freeway that runs along the hills if that was the problem then why not close a lane or better still better use command cars/police to slow traffic down..... I sure would like to know who paid for it????

Crank

It is an initiative of the mt lofty group to improve safety to those appliances that respond regularly to the freeway.

And is paid out of their own pocket. (maybe a subsidy from CFS but i doubt it.)

regular look overs of Respond to Road Crash training material would be good to do for Freeway responders, especially since they regularly have to put traffic cones a few hundred metres before the accident.

plenty of Traffic cones and E Flares would do the trick ;)

That colour stiping is also used on Scottish Fire Trucks but it is a good idea for the RCR brigades who regulary respond to RCR's on the freeway

Hey Guys I work for the Department of Transport Energy and Infrastructure on the freeway our depot at littlehampton looks after from the bottom to callington. I have been pushing for us to respond to accidents on our roads and the freeway so we can manage the traffic control and clean up I dont think it should be up the the cfs at all!

boredmatrix

not a silly idea.  The UK have massive trucks that responds to incidents on motorways for just that reason. they carry about 10 000 cones and flares, and have more colour than the bottom of the dunny bowl on a sunday morning....plus they're huge, so anyone not paying attention hits that instead of anyone working!

So do other states in Australia. - Think it is definately something SA should be looking at.
