Was at an AFAC Developing Future Leaders course in Sydney last year and Stuart Ellis showed some unedited channel 9 footage of the fires hitting the Canberra suburbs. Quite disturbing actually....you have to see it to believe it.....

Thanks Bill, i already have a copy. I did show it at our social night. No one moved or said a word the entire movie. Very dramatic and compelling.  When i spoke to the lady at the station i got it from she said she started dubbing it and ended up watching the whole thing!

Well I got my copy from a mate in CFA and its been view a few times by people and brigade's..I don't think it was ment to get out as much as it has.Its very hard hitting and you can pick the faults all they way through the video,I will say this those that think urban pumpers can do it all your wrong as this video shows the break downs of PTO pumps and hydraulic problems......

Even the multi million dollar formula one cars can break down , so any fire truck is vulnerable to failure under extreme conditions.

The Scania appliances were disabled by a design fault which administration and the manufacturer knew about for quite a while.
Christie Downs 431 also sufferd the same fault at a grass fire at Lonsdale and had to be towed away, but not to the extent of burning the appliance out.

Air filter intake was the cause of the appliances being disabled and catching alight due to embers being sucked straight in.

That one is a story (doco) in the firestorm. An insight into the one we are talkng about can be viewed here http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=63384. It's only a snippet of the whole thing but gives you an idea.
There are not many copies out there and it took me ages to convince channel nine to get one. It can only be shown "in house" and has a built in time code for copy right reasons.

Thats it mate and that is why its hard to get a copy as that footage was used in the court case and once you sit down and watch it you really have a insight into  the whole thing....
