Does anyone know the tool in the subject line as it is named here?

Believe it or not, I can't find a reference to this tool anywhere in the MFS recruit development folder, it refers only to the Hooligan tool. I feel a bit sad for Mr Halligan that as the creator of this nifty little device his name has been forgotten as the bastardised (yet completely apt  :-D) name Hooligan it seems has taken over.

Halligan Bar/Tool ...  Too many ' tools ' call it a hooligan.. When will they ever learn..  :?

I believe there are some slight variations of this tool, hence the differing names.

Serious? So you're telling me the tool MFS uses may actually be a different thing called a Hooligan tool and a variation on the tool that Halligan invented?

RescueHazmat

I believe the tool is a Halligan.. People some how got the hooligan name from somewhere (probably american TV or COPS or something..).. The original tool is a Halligan.

Footy

I reckon people picked up the name, cos your prett much actin like a hooligan to use it and get into a structure.
Imagine how poor old Mr Halligan feels with all these fire fighters playing with his tool everyday?

Yes its known as a hooligan or halligan tool but can also be referred to as rapid entry tool. In the country areas they are referred to as a metal stick with pointy ends and a can opener.
Unlike other brigades that have them, there are no tools in hickflat brigade.

Footy

So no branches, hoses, rakehoes?
Wow imagine driving to a fire with lights and sirens ang getting there to just watch...   :-P

Tools are part of standard stowage, talk to your equipment officer and see if he can get some for you. :P

If you are hard up for tools i'm sure certain regions around the state can send you some of their excess...

Thats cause Hicks Flat doesnt exist. Just a figment of his imagination.

I think you'll find the Hooligan tool is the cheap version of the Halligan, being of a three piece, pinned consturction, rather than being a single forged piece.

The proper and more expensive Halligan, is much less likely to break when attempting to force entry.
