Willbe interested to see how that goes. Will it be for comms support like the regional ops brigades or for fire suppression with their own appliances and/or crews??

mmmmmmmm, will wait and see what its all about make sure you keep us all up to date....if it works well great

My guess is that it will be a comms/ opperations support brigade like the regional ones.

Firefrog

good idea! Gives another opportunity for people to contribute to the state in a way that suits them. Well done CFS !

SA Firey

Might be like the old HQ Brigade at Keswick....volunteer firefighters as well as appliances etc :|

It is a support brigade, to assist with admin and logistics in HQ during bad days and big jobs. It is open to anyone that is interested, I believe Mick Ayre is the brigade Captain so give them a call if pushing paper and pens in the big house is your thing.
Crankster on scene, you can take a stop...

Hey Could that brigade accept normal FF who for a temporary reason be unfit to go out to the fire ground? I am well and fit but for example if i sprained an ankle and could still do support work would they be able to accept temporary help?

Thats a tricky area if you are on workcover. Can get a bit complicated with what you can/cannot do, especially if its workcover from CFS.

Pipster

But if your treating doctor / physio gives you a certificate, which says the things you are allowed to do, and sitting in a radio room or command type set up, off the fire ground is deemed suitable work, then CFS can hardly refuse to allow you there!!

Pip
There are three types of people in the world.  Those that watch things happen, those who make things happen, and those who wonder what happened.

SA Firey

Had a good talk to Eaun about this topic and it is still in its early stages of being setup but more news will be forthcoming

in that case you should assist at your station or group base.  I believe the idea for this SHQ support brigade is to recruit from the metro area rather than poach existing CFS members.
