Sounds interesting on the online scanner, a lot of resources on scene and as at 2330 are talking of large ammonia smell from eastern sector.  Sounds like it's going to be a looong night for them.

This was the start to a long protracted incident which ended up as a hazmat job due to ammonia being involved,Multiple brigades and strike teams of BA operators.

Abattoir fire damage bill at $15m

A FIRE has gutted an abattoir north west of Adelaide, causing an estimated $15 million damage.

Fire crews were called to Primo Abattoirs at Port Wakefield, after the fire was discovered in the offal room just before 9pm last night, SA police said.

The fire quickly spread to other sections of the double-storey building before firefighters were able to bring it under control.

The pig abattoir, which employs almost 300 workers, was gutted. Police said fire investigators are visiting the scene this morning to determine the cause. Anyone with information is urged to call BankSA Crime Stoppers
