Not happy
« on: June 08, 2009, 08:49:48 PM »
I have just seen something that i find unacceptable.
I was walking my dog with a friend in Gawler and heard a siren which i recognised as an MFS truck, i also heard another siren intersecting with that one. I then noticed the fire truck approaching me. All of a sudden, just before a bend, on a dark,wet and uneven surfaced road, a police car o/takes the fire truck.
With all the accidents happening lately and the weather conditions,aswell as the appliance with its lights and sirens going, i think it is unneccessary for the police car to do this and risked unnecessary threat to the public safety.

What is every ones opinion on situations like this?

Well police take risk all the time it is part of the job. I'm sure the police officer assessed the situation! Police cars are alot faster and handle better then trucks :lol:

hardly a newsworthy revelation - are you going to write a letter to the commisioner to complain about this deplorable action?

...at the end of the day there is a clown in every circus - and given that is was up north i'm surprised an ambulance didn't do the same thing.......

I certainly do. My meaning is just that it didn't really affect you at all [nor did it affect me] and in reality there could be all sorts of other things going on, ie;

-fire truck waves the coppers past?? we all know were bigger and slower...
-police probly going to a differant, higher priority, job [since they don't tend to go p1 to prangs, and needed to pass in a hurry
-etc...

I understand, but like i said, entering a bend in the rain, and it being dark on an uneven road i thought was a concern. I know trucks get o/taken by cops, but never seen or thought they would in those conditions :wink:
But like you said, if the firies were concerned, the station officer would chase it up. Just looking out for my fellow collegues
